What I'm Playing Now: Four Tactical Extraction Shooters, Solo and PvE-First

Short update. New rotation is Escape from Tarkov, Gray Zone Warfare, Incursion Red River, and Road to Vostok. All tactical extraction shooters, all played solo and PvE-first. Here is what to expect from this site going forward.

What I'm Playing Now: Four Tactical Extraction Shooters, Solo and PvE-First

Short update on what this channel is about going forward.

I've been playing solo and PvE-leaning games my whole life. Strategy games. Single-player shooters. The occasional co-op when friends are around. I am not a PvP grinder. I tried to build a character around that for a while, it was forced, and it didn't stick, so I'm dropping it. No more gimmicks. Just me covering the games I actually play, the way I actually play them.

The Four Games I'm Covering

Right now my rotation is all tactical extraction shooters, and every one of them is playable solo or PvE-first in some way.

Escape from Tarkov. The original. I know it's saturated and everyone covers it, but I play it and the patches keep coming. I'll post on the big news, wipes, and whatever the community is arguing about. No sweat clips, no meta loadouts. Just what the game is actually like if you're doing the slow, careful version.

Gray Zone Warfare. MADFINGER's PvE-first open-world extraction shooter on Lamang. I run it solo and it plays beautifully that way. Patches and seasonal content updates get written up here.

Incursion Red River. A smaller extraction shooter that does PvE and co-op against AI instead of pitting players against each other. The AI is surprisingly good. I already have some guides up on the site for it, and this is one of the games I want to go deeper on.

Road to Vostok. A hardcore single-player survival FPS built by one guy in Finland. It just hit Early Access on April 7 and sold enough in 24 hours to fund the roadmap for years. If there's a game on this list I want to build real coverage around, it's this one.

What to Expect From This Site

Every week I'm going through the same four sources per game. Reddit, Steam news, dev blogs, and official X accounts. Anything that matters, I write it up with my take and a link to the source. No hype spin.

Three kinds of posts:

  • Patch and update breakdowns whenever something new drops
  • Dev statement reactions whenever the developers say something worth responding to
  • State of the game posts every so often, covering where each game is at and whether it's worth your time

Streams are still Wednesday through Sunday at 10 PM MST on YouTube and Twitch. Clips are moving to Shorts with actual intros and endings instead of raw footage, which was a real problem before.

The Through Line

All four of these games reward patience, situational awareness, and not getting into fights you don't need to be in. That is how I play. If that sounds like you, stick around.

Next up is a state of the game on Road to Vostok since its first real patch just dropped.
